Living in Belgium for a long time, I realised that Indian culture and dance is purely limited to “Bollywood” and our ancient classical dance forms need a recognition here. I started working with various organisations as a volunteer to teach and bring awareness about Bharatanatyam.

Bharatanatyam has been a transformative journey for me. Though I began at the age of 19, learning under Guru Roopa has been an incredible privilege. Her guidance and patience have helped me embrace the grace, discipline, and depth of this art form. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to dance, express, and connect with a tradition so rich and beautiful.
Myself being a former Bharatanatyam student, it brings back cherished memories to me. I am truly delighted to see my daughter learning this traditional dance under Roopa mam's guidance, and it fills me with joy knowing she is experiencing a form of Bharatanatyam that closely resembles what I could have made her learn in India. Roopa Mam’s dedication in preserving the authentic style and her deep understanding of the art form are truly remarkable. She not only teaches the technique but also instills a deep appreciation for the cultural significance of Bharatanatyam. My daughter has flourished under her guidance and I’m so grateful for the discipline, grace, patience and passion she brings in each class. I am so proud that my daughter has reached a level where she has started to perform on stage. Truly happy and highly recommend Roopa Mam for her teaching and this is good for kids to remain rooted to our culture.

As a parent, it brings us immense joy to see our daughter Yuhasini Hari learn under Guru Roopa Ramkumar's guidance. Learning Bharatanatyam has been a transformative experience for her, and we owe much of that to Guru Roopa Ramkumar's incredible teaching methods and dedication. She creates an environment where students feel challenged and supported, ensuring that each child not only learns the technical aspects of the dance but also understands its cultural and spiritual significance. My daughter has gained so much, from mastering intricate hand gestures (mudras) and graceful movements to learning how to express emotions. What makes Guru Roopa Ramkumar truly special is her ability to connect with every student, nurturing their confidence and encouraging their growth. She pays attention to even the smallest details, ensuring every movement is performed precisely and meaningfully. Her passion for Bharatanatyam inspires the children to approach the dance with the same enthusiasm and respect. Since starting her classes, my daughter has become more focused, and confident. She eagerly looks forward to each lesson and takes pride in practicing what she has learned. It’s heartwarming to see her build a strong foundation in this beautiful classical art form while developing a deep love and appreciation for it. We are deeply grateful to Guru Roopa Ramkumar for her patience, encouragement, and dedication in shaping her students into skilled dancers who understand and cherish the rich heritage of Bharatanatyam.

Srinivas and I have joined our daughter Sahasra Sripada in Bhartanatyam classes from when she was 10 years old. Over the years Sahasra has grown as a dancer and has learned the beauty of classical dance. Her guru, Mrs Rupa Ramkumar took Sahasra in , as one of her own and immediately made her feel comfortable and connected with her over the years in dual role , both as guru and a friend Bharathanatyam has taught my daughter discipline, dedication, and perseverance. This intricate art form has opened our knowledge to a rich Indian culture and an honorable heritage. My daughter is honoured to be the student of Mrs Rupa RamKumar and we are forever thankful for the talent that she has instilled in Sahasra.
